Regarding recent events in the Middle East
To the university community and public opinion
The Metropolitan Autonomous University, consistent with its pacifist vocation and unwavering commitment to human rights, expresses its profound concern regarding the recent events in the Middle East, particularly the attacks carried out against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the United States and Israeli armed forces.
We firmly condemn any military action that exacerbates tensions in a region historically marked by armed conflict. We urgently call for the immediate de-escalation of hostilities, the restoration of diplomatic channels, and the prioritization of dialogue and mediation as indispensable mechanisms for the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
The University reiterates the fundamental importance of adherence to international law and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, including the full recognition of peoples’ right to self-determination as the cornerstone of global coexistence. Furthermore, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility toward present and future generations.
The Metropolitan Autonomous University underscores that lasting peace is built upon cooperation among nations, mutual support, and the strengthening of multilateral institutions —never upon armed confrontation or the misuse of economic or military power.
Peace, dialogue, and respect among peoples. Sustainability for our planet.
